Do You Separate Whites and Colours?
Do You Separate Whites and Colours?
We ask if you'd like to separate whites and colours. We highly recommend it. Separated loads are weighed and charged separately.
How we sort when you choose separation:
We sort your laundry into these groups:
- Whites and very light colours: washed separately to prevent grey tinting
- Darks: blacks, navies, dark greys, dark browns
- Brights and mixed colours: reds, oranges, greens, mid-tones
- Delicates: sorted separately regardless of colour (see handling delicate items)
Why we recommend it:
Even colour-fast garments can bleed lightly in warm water. Dark new items, especially cheap fast fashion pieces, are most likely to run. Separating protects everything.
Important note:
Colour separation is not done by default. Staff will ask at the counter. If you separate, each group is weighed and charged separately.
Fabric sorting:
We also sort by fabric weight and care label. Heavy items like jeans and towels go in separate loads from lightweight cotton and synthetics. This protects delicate fibres and lets everything dry properly.
Cold wash for colours:
We wash colours at low temperatures to minimise fading. Standard practice. You don't need to request it.
