Should I Tip the Driver?
Should I Tip the Driver?
Tipping in Bali is a gesture, not an expectation. Same applies to our drivers.
The short answer:
Not required or expected. Our drivers are paid a fair wage and won't be disappointed if you don't tip. No awkwardness either way.
If you'd like to tip:
A small tip is always appreciated and makes a driver's day. Typical gestures:
- Rp 10,000 to 20,000 for a single pickup or delivery (roughly 0.50 to 1.25 USD)
- More for larger or more complex orders, if you feel it's warranted
Cash is the way. Tip directly to the driver when they arrive or depart.
Tipping at the shop:
Dropping off or collecting in person? Tipping at the counter is optional. A warm gesture if you've been helped well. No expectation.
Tipping culture in Bali:
Tipping in Bali is appreciated but never demanded. Restaurant staff, drivers, and tour guides are the most common recipients. A small tip shows respect and is always received warmly.
